George Romas is the Chief Engineer of the Enterprise Security Solutions Practice for the Hewlett Packard Enterprise/U.S. Public Sector organization. His interests and expertise are developing technology strategies and solutions, based on his 33-year experience innovating across a wide range of disciplines, including cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, big data solutions, systems engineering & integration, modeling & simulation, programming, and applications/database development.
He currently executes these strategies with an elite team of senior cybersecurity engineers and architects, developing capabilities against US Public Sector requirements in labs located in Plano, TX and Raleigh, NC. These capabilities evolve into solutions, improvements, and offerings in managed security services, security reference architectures, big security data and analytics, secure mobility, secure cloud, cyber situational awareness and security operation centers. George collaborates across a wide range of organizations, including HP Labs, CTO organizations, product groups, global practices, partners, vendors, academia, industry, and government. This broad reach and involvement allows him to leverage innovative capabilities to deliver, through a cybersecurity lens, the next generation of government solutions.
Prior to joining Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Romas served as the Chief Technology Officer for Cyber Initiatives at Thermopylae Sciences & Technology and an Executive Director for the Office of the CTO at CACI International, where he was instrumental at developing corporate strategies and roadmaps for technologies and solutions.
Romas has the following certifications: Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management (ITIL), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and NISSP Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM). He served on the Appraisal Team for corporate CMMI Level 3 accreditation, and is a member of MENSA, IEEE and ACM. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Economics with post-graduate work in the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
